USDA Food Program

Nutritious meals are an essential component of raising healthy, happy children  and providing these meals has always been an important part of the Family Child Care Provider’s day. 

The Federal Government’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is set up to help encourage and support Home Based Child Care providers in providing these meals to the children they serve. 

Carelink RDC (one program of Child Care Services of York County www.ccsyc.org) is one CACFP sponsor for Family Child Care programs in Southern Maine and we would like the opportunity to work with you to help you participate in this CACFP program.

Specifically:

• 1)       Family Child Care providers who sign up with our program agree to:

  • a.       Provide meals to the children in their care that meet basic USDA nutrition guidelines

  • b.       Keep records of their menus, and the number of meals they have provided

  • c.        Submit a bill to us by the end of every month

• 2)       In return, Child Care Services of York County agrees to:

  • a.       Reimburse you for costs associated with providing these meals.  We pay you the Friday following the third Wednesday of every month following the close of the previous month if we receive your paperwork on time.

  • b.       Provide you with any technical assistance, training or support you need to start and/or continue with this program.

  • c.        Provide you with all the forms you need at no cost to you.

• 3)       Also, being part of the CCSYC Family Child Care Meals program, you have access to “WebHX” which is a web based program that allows you to:

  • a.       Record meals,

  • b.       Enroll new children

  • c.        Plan and print menus

  • d.       Submit claims and print reports online.

   (Of course, if you prefer, you can still do all of this on paper and submit your claims through the mail.)
